We were recently asked to provide freelance editorial and journalism services for ASHRM digital magazine, as part of our ongoing work with the only dedicated HR organisation for the Arabic world.
Our journalism and copy skills were put to the test in several articles for the first issue of ASHRM digital magazine, which is now available for free download via Google Play and Apple app stores.
HR in the GCC
We interviewed the President of ASHRM Abdulhadi al Mansouri, and wrote all copy for a major three-page interview covering the most pressing HR topics in the Middle East today, like nationalization, nurturing female employees and retaining key talent and competitive advantage. As we’re well-versed with key HR issues in the GCC and are always ready to undertake freelance journalism work, we accomplished this piece quickly before moving on to provide further copy for a second magazine article covering ASHRM’s 2014 conference.
In his interview, the President of ASHRM spoke at length about his varied career with Saudi Aramco petrochemical company, based in Dhahran Saudi Arabia. He then went on to set up Aramco Services Company in the UK, before returning to Saudi Aramco and being picked to manage the HR function at King Abdullah Petrol Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Abdulhadi al Mansouri is now the Vice President of Finance and Operations at KAPSARC.
Freelance journalism work
Our second piece of freelance journalism work in the magazine was a collective summary of our tweets at ASHRM’s 2014 conference, which took place at the Atlantis in Dubai. We supplied a selection of tweets from presentations by speakers including Ben Casnocha from LinkedIn, co-founder of Twitter Dom Sagolla, BBC journalist Gavin Esler and ASHRM President Abdulhadi al Mansouri. The final article gives a great overview of the conference and is really different from the usual freelance journalism work we are asked to undertake.
We’re looking forward to continuing our work with ASHRM. If you’re tempted to outsource freelance journalism work or want to find a freelance journalist, drop us a line.
